The Blossom Kyrenia development,
in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus is an ethical development.
Although the builders are
not yet members of the AIPP, they work according to the the AIPP code
of ethics and require all their agents to do so as well. In terms of ethics,
there are no compromises whatsoever. They say "We would rather lose
a sale than lose our reputation. We have no qualms about releasing a worker
or an agency caught in an ethical violation."
In terms of an eco-friendly build, they offer the following attributes:
- "All our projects
use solar heating for hot water."
- "The material used
for the outer wall of our projects keeps the houses cool in the summer
and warm in the winter. Thus, saving energy and reducing the use of
carbon fuels. Furthermore, the insulation material is based on red clay
rather than cancer causing materials and non-biodegradable."
- "Drinking water
and non-drinking water come from different sources, thus not putting
a strain on an already much-too depleted natural drinking water supply."
- "The sewage system
has been reinforced to prevent leakage into the underground water aquifers
and nearby seafronts. (Thicker pipes and better bonding techniques)."
- "Building sites
near coastlines are spread out and have been constructed to mesh in,
rather than clash, with the natural surroundings."
- "Roads and infrastructures
to sites have been built and designed to avoid clashing with the natural
state of the landscape and without harming wildlife."
